California AB 1200 Cookware Chemical Disclosure
California Assembly Bill 1200 (AB 1200), Health & Safety Code Section 109010 et seq., requires manufacturers of cookware sold in California to disclose the presence of intentionally added chemicals that are identified on the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) Candidate Chemicals List and are present in the handle of a product or in any product surface that comes into contact with food, foodstuffs, or beverages.
The tables below identify the cookware products (by ASIN) sold in California for which a disclosure is required, together with the chemicals present, their Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) numbers, and the applicable authoritative lists. Products are organised under a material-type heading; within each material type, products that share the same chemical set are shown together, and a different chemical set is shown in a separate block beneath the same heading.
The presence of a listed chemical does not indicate that the product is unsafe or presents a health risk. These disclosures are provided solely to comply with the requirements of California AB 1200. The products identified here comply with the relevant limits and rules established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration governing the safe use of products in direct contact with food.
Definitions
Cookware: Durable houseware items used to prepare, dispense, or store food, foodstuffs, or beverages, including pots, pans, skillets, grills, baking sheets, baking molds, trays, bowls, and cooking utensils.
Intentionally added chemical: A chemical that the manufacturer has intentionally added to a product and that has a functional or technical effect in the finished product or component.
CAS number: A unique numerical identifier assigned to chemical substances by the Chemical Abstracts Service.
